Foster Insurance Agency was established in 1950 by Mr. Joe C. Foster in downtown Columbia, TN. In the days before computers, policies and service work were done manually by typewriter in the office without the aid of modern electronic equipment and management systems. Incorporated in 1980, in spite of hard markets, Foster Insurance continued to grow. In 1993, Mr. Foster began to consider the perpetuation of the agency as retirement became a consideration.

With sixteen (16) years of insurance experience at the time, Michael A. Ford was brought into the agency in September 1993 to begin the perpetuation process. Mike's first undertaking was to attend the TAPP (The Association Perpetuation Plan) program sponsored by Westfield Insurance. Graduating from this program in November of 1993, Mike returned to begin his responsibilities of running the agency. Mike was elected President of Foster Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1996. He is an active member of the Insurors of Tennessee and has served on its Board of Directors representing Region II.

Foster Insurance Agency, Inc. currently has five (5) full time employees with over 150 years of combined experience between them. Mary Sue Dalton, office manager and commercial CSR has been with the agency since 1967. Ramona Ward, personal lines CSR, joined the agency in 1987. Eddie Allred came to Foster Insurance in 1999, as producer and in-house computer tech. Eddie has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry. Jimmy Ford came on board in 2002 working in our personal lines and heading our aviation department.

The goal at Foster Insurance is now and has always been to provide appropriate coverage at a competitive price. We will continue to strive to provide prompt, courteous service to our policyholders.
